Dr. Kewei Yu is an esteemed interventional pain specialist and general neurologist who has dedicated his career to the diagnosis and treatment of chronic pain conditions, as well as general neurologic disease. With over 25 years of medical experience, Dr. Yu has become a respected leader in pain management and neurology and has helped countless patients find relief from their symptoms.

Dr. Yu was born in Hang Zhou China and immigrated into USA in 2002. He finished medical school in 1994 in Second Medical University, Shanghai, China. Then he finished residency and also accomplished a PhD degree in medical science in 1999. He practiced two years in the field of orthopedics spine before he arrived in the USA. He did several years of reach in the field of neuropathic pain at Drs. Waxman and Kocsis’s lab in the Department of Neurology and Neuroscience at Yale School of Medicine. In 2010 Dr. Yu finished internship training at Prince George's Hospital Center, Maryland. After that he finished 6 years of residency training at Shands Hospital, University of Florida, first in Anesthesiology and then in Neurology. 

After completing his pain management fellowship training at a famous program supervised by Dr. Goodman in Birmingham Alabama, he returned to Florida and began his career at several interventional pain clinics in the middle and southern part of the peninsula.  During this time, he did many neurology locums work at different hospitals in many states and still maintained his focus on patient-centered care and providing the most comprehensive, state-of-the-art treatment for the patients. In 2021, Dr. Yu finally opened the first (also the best) interventional pain and neurology clinic in the Johns Creek area after years of preparation and studying. He is credentialed in three major hospital systems in Great Atlanta: Emory, Northside and NGPG. 

Given the extremely unique and comprehensive training background, Dr. Yu has a deep understanding of the underlying mechanisms of pain and the individual needs of each patient. He uses a multidisciplinary approach to develop customized treatment plans for patients suffering from chronic pain, headache and many neurological diseases. That may include a combination of medications, physical therapy, acupuncture, and interventional procedures such as nerve blocks, radiofrequency ablation, and spinal cord stimulation. Dr. Yu is also able to use most advanced neurology diagnostic tools such as EMG/NCS, autonomic studies and EEG, as well as imaging studies to better understand each condition in each patient. 

As an advocate for patient education and empowerment, Dr. Yu takes the time to explain the diagnosis and treatment options to his patients in a way that is easy to understand. He believes that by working together with his patients, they can achieve the best possible outcomes and improve their quality of life.

When not in the office, Dr Yu enjoys traveling with his wife and 2 children, reading, and singing Shaoxing opera.
